Lady Code is traveling to the Indie Beauty Expo

Happy Motivational Monday,

Did you know that the products you put on your body are just as important as the food which you eat? People do not realize that everything that you breathe, eat and digest are all processed through your liver. We have to be just as conscious about the makeup, skincare and other products which we use on our bodies as the food we eat.

This week, Lady Code is traveling to attend the Indie Beauty Expo where we will be discovering natural and independent brands. The mission of this expo is “to provide a platform to recognize, showcase and celebrate independent beauty, wellness and lifestyle brands.”

I am so excited for this adventure where I can learn about these natural boutique brands and share them with you. In fact, I will be traveling with my mom, Dr. Elizabeth Trattner, a national expert in all things wellness.

Make sure to check Snapchat and our Facebook and Instagram page where I will be sharing live clips of this event.

In the interim, make sure to check out the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep to see how safe your makeup and skincare brands really are.

Have a great week!

Additionally, Chris has sat on judging panels at the national, state, and local levels. He has judged for many pageant systems including Mrs.America, Mrs. United States, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss United States, Miss America, Miss American Beauty, and the Miss US International Pageants.

I will be hosting a pageant makeup workshop

lisa-opie-meet-and-greet

I have been involved in the Miss United States system since 2007. I competed on the national stage in 2012 and 2013, placing in the top 5 and top 15. In 2014 and 2015, I served on the national judging panel. I know exactly what it is like to be a contestant, but I also know exactly what the judges are looking for since I have experienced being in both positions. I earned my certification from celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic in May 2016. Through the growing success of my YouTube channel, LadyCode, I have become recognized in the makeup world and beauty industry. I work regularly with YSL Beauty, Rimmel London, E.L.F. Cosmetics, Pixi By Petra, and Charlotte Tilbury as a content creator.

I will be doing a demo on one lucky volunteer on:

  1. Contour/highlight
  2. Blush/bronzer
  3. Illuminators

Following the demonstration I will let you ask any questions you may have about competing, recommended makeup products, or even how to create a presence on social media! The first 10 girls will receive a free notebook and pen so you can take notes throughout the course, and I also have a gift basket worth over $75 in makeup for one lucky girl.

PageantLIVE will be posting LIVE updates!

Everyone in pageantry knows what a big deal PageantLIVE is! From consistently hosting the red carpet of every major pageant from Miss Universe to Miss United States, PageantLIVE is the preferred media outlet in pageantry. PageantLIVE also was nominated for and won the Prestige Media award in 2015 at the Prestige Pageantry Awards. PageantLIVE will be live on and off throughout the event and you might even be lucky enough to be featured on their feed!

There will be a fashion show with celebrity models like Miss New York United States, Jennifer DeCillis!

jennifer decillis miss new york 2016

Jennifer placed first runner up at the Miss United States National Pageant this year. As if that isn’t enough, she has earned countless titles and awards from multiple systems. Jennifer is an internationally published model and she continues to grow in the industry. Jennifer recently became an official red carpet host for ASC Fashion Week in February 2017 as well! Keep this girl on your radar because she is going places. Jennifer will be walking in the fashion show at Diane & Company where you can preview this season’s hottest designs, which leads to…

The following day I hosted ASC Fashion Week and Mr & Ms New York Fashion Week. It was so much fun and the best part was that I got a new wig made by NYC hairstylist  Lisandro Danny Barcelo! I thought that my gray ombre bob was so “ME” and then Lisandro put this new look on my head and I could not believe how amazing it looked!

VIZCAYA SWIMWEAR FOR MISS UNITED STATES 2016: FIRST LOOK AT THE 2016 COMPETITION SWIMSUIT

Earlier this evening at the Miss New York United States 2016 pageant, a surprise announcement was made that Vizcaya Swimwear will be the official swimwear sponsor of the Miss United States 2016 national pageant! This means a brand new competition suit for the delegates to wear on the stage.

Screen Shot 2016-05-27 at 1.04.25 PM

As the designer of Vizcaya Swimwear, I worked hard with the national director, Stephi, to create a suit that has not traditionally been seen on a pageant stage before. This suit wraps across the body and can be worn different ways. The objective was to make sure that each woman can show her personality through the suit. Of course, this swimsuit is totally perfect to wear on the beach as well and this trendsetting new design is here just in time for summer!

The swimsuit comes in 3 different color options and two metal embellishments that can be placed anywhere for the girl to personalize her look. More embellishments will be available for an additional $5 if she wants to bling out the whole suit!

The swimsuit is available for pre-order HERE for $195 and is set to ship in 2 weeks or less.

The Little White Dress

I’ve been spending so much time in NYC this year, I feel like a New Yorker now! I don’t feel like a Miamian anymore, but I still love wearing white in the city. In Miami, my go-to color was white, but in New York, my go-to color to wear is black. I wore this little white dress to host interviews for PageantLIVE at Mister United States 2016!

Travel Blog: Miss Florida United States 2016 Weekend

Let’s face it: Mondays stink. They especially stink when I travel for a weekend and come back. I spent the weekend in NYC but the weekend before that, I did a huge Florida tour for Miss Florida United 2016! Vizcaya Swimwear was the swimwear sponsor of the pageant, and I was also there covering for PageantLIVE and Crowned Magazine.

Since I knew some of the reigning titleholders, the weekend was super fun and you can catch all of the action in my latest YouTube video, my Miss Florida travel vlog!

Hotel breakdown:

Hyatt-Regency-Pier-66-

Hyatt Pier 66, Fort Lauderdale:

This hotel was very nice and offered amazing first impressions. It does not have beach access and some of the rooms are a little bit dated, as well as the pool furniture. The service was excellent and the property was gorgeous.

shores-resort-and-spa

The Shores Resort and Spa, Daytona Beach:

I loved this hotel. Everything about it was luxurious and the service was excellent. The beach was choppy in Daytona compared to Miami. I loved that this resort had a bonfire and a huge jacuzzi! Our room was gorgeous, but the bathroom did not have a bathtub. Room service was pricy but worth it-the food was delicious. Just remember that they tack on an 18% gratuity on all checks so unless you want to tip extra, it’s already included.

the diplomat resort and spa review

The Diplomat Resort and Spa, Hollywood/Miami Beach:

The Diplomat is all about lavish first impressions. The rooms are gorgeous and everything s chic, modern, and brand new. The rooms were spacious and ours had a jacuzzi! However, they charge for almost everything. I asked for a fork for my Chipotle and they charged me $3 for a delivery charge to the room. They also charge for beach chairs on the beach. The service in general was not that great but I enjoyed the resort!

NYFW 2016: Look Book

I always dreamed of participating in New York Fashion Week. This year my dream became a reality and I got to be in New York City for Fashion Week! It was a crazy week. I spent the first 3 days covering for PageantLIVE. Pam, my PageanyLIVE boss lady had the hookup for some awesome shows and I was right in the middle of all the action hosting for PageantLIVE-Miss Teen United States 2015, Andreia Gibau even stopped in for an interview! Next, my favorite beauty guru, Raven Reed came in to NYC for a few days. We shot a TON of collab videos including our BIGGEST beauty giveaway yet (click here to subscribe to LadyCode and be the first in the know when it goes live!), and attended several shows together.

Facing the Holidays: Giving & Getting

Growing up, Christmas was all about getting presents from my family. Sure, my family made it clear that it was Jesus’ birthday but I always made it all about me and what I was going to get under the tree. For some reason, once the presents were unwrapped, that happiness it provided me only lasted me a few days, maybe a few months if the presents were reeeally good. I never received anything that gave me lasting happiness.

image

It wasn’t until Christmas of 2014 that I realized I had it all wrong. This is the season of giving. Last Christmas, I wasn’t able to spend Christmas with my family so I chose to spend it volunteering at a homeless shelter. It was the first Christmas where I was giving my love, time, and energy to help those in need. Being there with the people that were grateful for what they were being given made me feel something that was so much better than receiving anything I ever dreamed of for Christmas. It gave me a sense of joy, comfort, and peace. I can’t remember what I got for Christmas last year but I will never forget the smiles I saw at the shelter, and the feeling of fulfillment it gave me.

image

Sometimes, when I get everything I want, I end up feeling like crap. It’s almost like I have nothing left to look forward to, and I’m just this spoiled brat that has everything but still feels like I need more. I can tell you, getting everything you want in the world may give you temporary happiness but it won’t give you lasting joy! If you’ve been feeling down about the holidays, try GIVING, without expecting anything in return. If you can’t give physical objects, give your love, energy, and your time! I promise that if you give, you will find true joy and happiness.

Travel Diary: Boston

I loved visiting Massachusetts for the Mister Rhode Island and Mister Massachusetts United States Pageant! I was there covering the event for PageantLIVE, of course. It was my first full MISTER pageant, so I didn’t know what to expect. The delegates competed in interview, on stage question, fashion wear (this was my favorite), swimwear, and formal wear.

Meet the new winners here:

They were SUPER sweet and I’m really excited for both of them as they go on to compete for Mister United States next May!

The pageant was in Mansfield so we spent the night in Mansfield and then headed over to Boston the next day to explore the city! We walked around the MIT & Harvard campus, and then went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History, which was pretty cool. We walked around the harbor with a hot cup of tea and then of course we had to walk around the colorful Quincy Market before we left!

It was so cold and such a busy time I didn’t get a chance to take a lot of photos, but I did upload a lot of my trip to my Snapchat story! If you want to keep up with my travels, follow me on snapchat: LisaLOpie!
