Protect your skin this summer!

????????????

Summer is in full bloom, as it is almost July and the sun’s rays are strong. The most important thing is to know how to protect your skin in order to prevent aging and wrinkles.

This is vacation season! The relaxing beach days are here, this means you will be spending a lot of time in the sun. Most of us enjoy tanning our skin to have that glowing sun kissed look.

Prior to heading out to the beach and exposing your skin to the sun, it is important that you take few precautionary steps towards protecting your skin.

These few steps are easy to follow. Consider them your beauty ritual prior to exposing your skin to the sun. You deserve to pamper yourself!

Clean

Start off by removing excess oil, dirt, or makeup from your skin. You can chose to use a cream makeup remover or makeup remover wipes. Make up remover wipes from Olay are great as they have a patterned texture which helps remove makeup faster. These wipes are a little different from usual makeup remover wipes, they are dry but once you wet them a foamy solution disperses, which helps clean your skin. After you have used a makeup remover, it is recommended that you use a foaming facial cleanser to wash the face. The one I would recommend would be by Peter Thomas Roth; it is gentle on your skin and does not dry it out. After this, your face is ready for the next step.

Exfoliate

It is important that you know, it is not recommended to exfoliate your face more than once a week. Over exfoliating can cause hypersensitivity and for your cells to not have a chance to regenerate, which would ultimately result in your skin to become oily. You can chose either a face scrub as a mask or a wash. This will get rid of all dead cells and leave your skin soft and ready for your next step, which is moisturizing.

Hydrate

Exfoliation leaves your skin soft and once you apply your moisturizer, this will be absorbed faster and deeper into the skin. You can choose to use either a moisturizing cream or a serum. Estheticians recommend that you use both the cream and serum. Apply the serum to the cleaned skin, followed by a moisturizer. For the serum, one I would recommend is from DermGlo (infused with Vitamin C).

Protect

After you have followed the steps above, the most important part is to remember to protect your skin. Both dermatologists and estheticians recommend that you use a minimum of SPF 30 every day prior to going outside. If you are planning to be at the beach during the hot afternoon hours it is recommended that you use a higher SPF. One that I have used and really liked was from Image Skincare.

Revitalize

Last but not least, remember to always keep your face hydrated. Throughout the hot summer day, you might feel as if your skin is getting oily and your makeup might feel cakey. Facial oil removal wipes are not recommended as they create dependency. Studies show that the more they are used, the more oil your glands will produce. It is recommended you cary with you a mineral water spray, from Evian. This will keep your skin hydrated and fresh at all times.

This might seem as a long routine, but it is essential that you stick to it daily, as it will tremendously reduce the appearance of wrinkles and protect your skin from harmful rays!
